Accountant
ROLE SUMMARY
The Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting-related functions for the client, such as processing tax returns, coordinating the collection of required documents and information, bookkeeping, research, reconciliation, and budgeting.
SCHEDULE: 9 AM - 6 PM Eastern Standard Time, follows Philippine holidays
POSITION TYPE: Full Time
WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Prepare the following Tax Returns:
• Personal Tax Return
• Prepare work papers using firm order of file
• Use firm templates for auto, sch D, foreclosures, etc.
• Business Tax Returns
• Prepare work papers using firm order of file
• Use firm templates for auto, M-1 reconciliation, etc.
• Review client books and make adjustments for year-end
• Recognize and make journal entries for M-1 Adjustments
• Prepare depreciation schedule
• Prepare uniform capitalization workpapers
• Prepare construction client work papers like completed contract/percentage of completion
• Use engagement for tax trial balance
• Contact client for information or documents required to complete returns
• Conduct independent research of all necessary laws prior to submitting a return to the reviewer
• Prepare tax return within budget and be able to access if additional time is warranted
• Provide reviewer with a complete and accurate return to avoid open items
• Prepare the following tax projections and planning tasks for clients:
• Determine tax liability
• Salary requirements
• Payroll Liabilities
• Determine estimated payments
• Handle correspondences with IRS and state agencies and teleconferences and perform the following tasks:
• Prepare payment plan paperwork
• Prepare powers of attorney
• Prepare S election
• Prepare SS-4
• Prepare state registrations
• Perform external bookkeeping and perform the following relevant tasks:
• Adjust balance sheet after-tax returns completed
• Handle year-end adjustments
• Provide internal and external QuickBooks support for our clients
• Collect tax return information for tax preparer
• Review all monthly and quarterly bookkeeping and perform the following relevant tasks:
• Update bookkeeping and payroll lists to show that clients’ work is completed in a timely manner
• Prepare W-2s W-3s 1099 1096 at year-end firm procedures
• Adhere to all firms’ policies and procedures
• Work within budgets or be able to access project and additional hours required
• Enter time in practice daily at a minimum or as the project completed
• Meet with tax manager to review the progress of priorities, budget, and weekly work plan
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related field
• Proficient in tax and accounting software/tools such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, CCH Access/ProFX Tax, Intelliconnect Tax Research, Intelliforms, Tax Tools, CFS Payroll, Practice Management Time Entry, Accounting Research, PFX Tax Planning, Proseries Tax Planner, CCH Engagement External Bookkeeper
• Being a certified public accountant is an advantage, but not a must
• Excellent grasp of all Microsoft 365 applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Aptitude in data management, analytics, and reporting preparation
• Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
