Senior Platform Engineer

THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for their rapidly growing business and engineering team. In this role, you will be part of a team that strives to write clean code and use the latest and greatest tools available wherever possible. The team you will be joining works on supporting the business by ingesting and processing various datasets using a Java/Kotlin backend supported by Spring Framework, Apache Spark, Reactive Systems, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, and Apache Kafka running on Kubernetes.

You will be responsible for developing high-quality secure code, high systems availability, and ensuring the applications can scale according to the needs of the business. Part of this role requires that you be familiar with Helm and Kubernetes concepts to deploy the ever-growing list of microservices using GitOps methodologies. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to keep up to date with the latest technology trends and offer senior guidance to the team to solve business problems.

SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (9:00 PM – 6:00 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·       Write code primarily in Kotlin and occasionally in Java using Spring Framework

·       Inspect code from junior developers

·       Help other engineers solve complex problems

·       Ensure production environments are properly monitored and healthy

·       Work closely with management and product owners to ensure projects are on track

·       Analyze business requirements, provide development estimates, and provide feedback to business

·       Work closely with QA Engineers and ensure quality control is maintained throughout the development lifecycle

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

·       5+ years of experience in software development

·       Experience with Spring Framework, Kubernetes, and Apache Kafka

·       Experience with AWS or other Cloud services

·       Experience with CI/CD processes (preferably Bitbucket Pipelines, Gitlab CI, or GitHub Actions)

·       Experience with Helm charts

·       Working knowledge of Docker/containers

·       Ability to work independently and collaborate well with architects, developers, DevOps, and product owners

·       Self-motivated and highly organized, analytical, and result-oriented

·       Ability to practice egoless programming

·       Desire to continuously learn
