Accounting Manager

ROLE SUMMARY

Our client is looking for an Accounting Manager who will be reporting to the Managing Director. This role will be responsible for developing an A-player accounting team by implementing and monitoring accounting policies, procedures, and training. The Accounting Manager is also responsible for ensuring clients receive excellent service.

SCHEDULE: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Eastern Daylight Time (8:30 PM – 5:30 AM Philippine Standard Time), follows Philippine holidays

POSITION TYPE: Full Time

WORK ARRANGEMENT: Remote

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Perform the following accounting tasks:

o   Monitor open capacity for the accounting team

o   Monitor accounting work delegated to the right team member to help everyone maintain a manageable workload

o   Prioritize annual work based on the CPA timeline

·       Perform the following team development tasks:

o   Manage and update accounting policies, procedures, and guides

o   Train team on new accounting material

o   Attend webinars and read newsletters to stay abreast of new accounting rules and automation opportunities

o   Develop learning roadmaps for each team member

·       Perform the following team management tasks:

o   Assist the staff with client-specific questions and provide guidance and/or solutions

o   Assess the workload and capacity of the accounting team to ensure tasks are properly assigned and deadlines are met

o   Create meeting rhythms with teams, including one-on-one meetings with each team member twice per week

o   Meet with new hires to explain roles, responsibilities, and expectations

o   Prepare individual performance evaluations for the accounting team on a mid-year and annual basis

o   Identify team members for promotion and coaching opportunities for growth

o   Implement disciplinary measures when a team member has performance issues

o   Fire employees alongside the Managing Director (as a witness) when the need arises

o   Assist management with recruitment and identifying ideal-fit candidates

o   Assist with onboarding and training new team members, as well as, assigning their client workload

o   Manage time off requests by reviewing and assessing their impact on the team’s workload and deadlines

o   Approve time off requests

·       Perform the following client management tasks:

o   Manage top 25 client group relationships for retention

o   Meet with the top 25 client groups for feedback

o   Maintain strong relationships with the top 25 CPA partners who provide audit or tax services to the clients to ensure the accounting team is providing the requested information

o   Liaise between the clients for tax-related matters

o   Recognize, respond to, and solve client problems

o   Resolve conflicts or complaints from clients

o   Assist with training new clients during onboarding i.e. (QuickBooks Online Trainings, ADP, etc.)

·       Perform the following administrative/miscellaneous tasks:

o   Attend weekly executive meetings with the Managing Director and Operations Manager to discuss matters regarding clients, teams, potential clients, etc.

o   Spearhead daily huddle

o   Enter time daily in Karbon

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       A bachelor’s degree in the related field

·       Experience in a multi-client environment (50+ clients)

·       Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft 365 applications

·       Strong organization, oral and written communication skills

·       Analytical skills with particular attention to detail

·       Aptitude in data management, analytics, reporting preparation

·       Ability to function in an autonomous environment—independent worker, self-directed
